FSC Certified

Paragraphics is proud to announce our certification by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), effective December 13, 2005. We are the first local printing manufacturer in the Bay Area to receive the chain-of-custody certification from the Council.

The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is an international non-profit organization devoted to encouraging the responsible management of the world’s forests. FSC brings people together to find solutions to the problems created by bad forestry practices, and reward good forest management.

FSC sets high standards that ensure forestry is practiced in an environmentally responsible, socially beneficial, and economically viable way. FSC was set up in 1993 as the world’s first independent labeling system for forest products. These efforts are supported by the World Wildlife Fund, Greenpeace and Friends of the Earth. In order to use the FSC logo as an “environmental claim” on paper, the produce must flow through a “chain-of-custody” from the FSC certified forests to a paper manufacturer, merchant, and finally the printer who all have chain-of-custody certification.

“Paragraphics has taken a leadership role in the Northern California chain-of-custody certification process,” said Willy Herzig, President of Paragraphics. “We feel it is important to do our part. Many of our clients are looking for ways to minimize their impact on the environment beyond recycled papers. Forest certification enables our clients to make informed choices when selecting papers for their printing needs.”

By selecting Paragraphics, your company or your client can demonstrate its commitment to responsible forest management and sound business practices. Won’t you join us?
